Tests and Analysis

The planning and execution of tests concerning electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety-related components and systems in safety-related applications is the key business area of Automation, Software and Information Technology ASI.

This equipment has to meet high standards concerning safety, reliability and quality. If it fails to function - for example because of technical defects, faulty sequence of events or human failure - environment and technology may well be endangered.

Type Approvals

We carry out type approvals of electrical/electronic products. A positively completed test results in the certification of the product and the optional issue of a test mark.

FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

One of the essential safety requirements concerning protection and monitoring systems refers to the behaviour in case of failure conditions. It is required, that failures in the control as well as in the peripheral should not lead to a failure of the defined safety functions. A possible method to prove, that failures cannot react critical to safety, is the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Risk and Reliability Analysis

Safety-related requirements are defined in application dependant and independent standards, which determine the definitive test principles of type approvals. The requirements result from the risk analysis of the applications. In consequence, applications generally refer to different categories or levels of safety-related requirements.
