During the concept approval the product specification and the realization concept are examined to make sure that the requirements of the relevant standards have been considered and also to check if the safety concept fulfils the requirements of functional safety according to the required integrity level.

During the main approval all safety relevant functions of the device are verified and analysed. Failures of internal elements, failures in the external wiring as well as intentional and unintentional actions and usage are examined and may not lead to a dangerous state.
