Training: Safety Instrumented Systems

 
Who Should attend ?

All Engineers, Operations and Maintenance Staff who are involved in any of the safety lifecycle phases for safety instrumented systems including hazard and risk analysis, requirements specification, design implementation, SIS installation & commissioning, operation, maintenance and servicing of safety instrumented systems.

Project Managers with responsibility for safety related projects;

Managers with responsibility for safety related systems;

Instrument Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Process Engineers and Safety Engineers who are looking to develop their competency in the area of Functional Safety .

Participant eligibility requirements

In accordance with the TÜV Functional Safety Program:

•    A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the field of functional safety.
•    University degree or equi
valent engineering experience and responsibilities as certified by employer or
     
engineering institution.

Course Duration

3.5 Days

Three days of classroom tuition, and practical guidance, mixed with practical exercises based on actual examples to underpin the understanding and application, of the principles and requirements of IEC61508 / IEC 61511

Day four consists of a four-hour two-part proficiency examination with:
•    Part 1 = 60 multiple-choice questions
•    Part 2 = 10 multiple part questions

Passing score is 75%

Day 3
•    Understanding Failures and failure modes
•    Understanding technical information / certificates and reports

•    Partial Closure Testing
•    Application Software Requirements Specification & Validation Planning
•    Requirements for Support Tools, User Manuals and Application Language
•    Requirements for Application Software Development & Module Testing
•    Integration of Application Software with SIS Subsystems
•    Operations & Maintenance - Installation & Commissioning
•    Proof testing strategies and the impact of testing

Day 4 (Morning)
A four (4) hour two part competency examination compromising of 60 multiple-choice questions and 10 multiple part questions, the pass score criterion is 75%

Training Investment

Total price per participant is GBP £1750 (Euro €2000)
(Includes course material, registration fees with TÜV Functional Safety Program and TÜV Rheinland certificate, if exam passed successfully)
