2nd International TÜV Rheinland Safety Symposium USA

April 24 to 25, 2007 in Galveston/Texas - USA
Programmable Electronic Systems in Safety-Related Applications

Scope

This symposium is a result of the successful first symposium held in the United States in 2005. The main objective is to give a overview of worldwide developments and show practical experience of manufacturers of safety-related products and end-users of the U.S. market.
The implementation of safety-related automation applications including programmable techniques has become a standard in most application areas. This includes programmable controllers, field devices, bus systems and their configuration and programming by the user. The functional safety of these devices in operation has to be guaranteed for the protection and safety of people, environment and installations/plants.

International standards, as for example the IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and EN 954, describe requirements which have to be fulfilled during development and use of systems. Safety management of the complete life cycle of complex applications and devices is gaining more and more importance.

The symposium and the exhibition supports and intensifies the international exchange of information and makes the state-of-the-art of safety-related applications transparent. Results concerning use, safe communication, software and safety management will be the main topics.

Target Group Manufacturers and designers of safety-related systems; system integrators of safety-relevant installations; operating companies; testers, experts; approval authorities.
