How to become a TÜV Functional Safety Engineer

Interested persons or engineers should study the trainings and course offers within the TÜV Functional Safety Program thoroughly. The course providers as well as Automation, Software and Information Technology ASI can give their support concerning an adequate choice.

The registration should be made directly at the course provider. He proves, whether the eligibility requirements are met and sends all necessary documents and registration forms to the applicant. The continuous participation of the course and of the final exam are compulsory.

In case of a positive exam the participants of trainings/courses will receive a TÜV certificate with appropriate logo and ID-number. The certificate states knowledge in the specified topic.


What does the title "TÜV Functional Safety Engineer" mean ?

This title means that:

»The participant can declare for example:
I am a TÜV Functional Safety Engineer in the field of Safety Instrumented Systems according to the TÜV Functional Safety Program.

He cannot declare generally, that he is a certified TÜV Functional Safety Engineer by TÜV.

He cannot declare that he is an employee of TÜV or cooperation partner of TÜV etc.


How can the TÜV Functional Safety Engineer logo be used ?

The logo is depicted on the certificate. It is also possible to scale down the logo and to include it on a business card - if desired.

A further use of the logo ist not allowed. Any contravention will be stated in the TÜV FS Eng and TÜV FS Exp lists on the internet site of ASI and published accordingly.

Persons who misuse the logo and certificate will be excluded from the TÜV Functional Safety Program and their title will be denied.
